"Redbox" DVD Rental
比較的最近ですが、Stamp Union のフードコートの端に、DVD レンタルの自動販売機が設置されました。あらかじめ中に用意されている数十の DVD を1本1泊 (翌日午後10時まで) $1+tax でレンタルできるというもので、こちらではマクドナルドの前などに置いてあるものと同じ機械です。少し見てみたところ比較的最近のものが揃っているようだったので、見たいものが在庫があれば便利かもしれません。普通のレンタルショップだと普通 2～3泊で $3～$4 だと思います。
ここに載っていた紹介を以下に引用します。大学内にこのレンタル自販機を設置するのはメリーランドが初めてのようですが本当でしょうか・・・。
"Redbox" DVD Movie Rental Vending in Stamp Student Union -Corporate Services has initiated a pilot program to place a "Redbox" DVD Movie Rental vending machine in the Stamp Student Union. It is located near McDonald’s.
The University of Maryland is the first University to offer a "Redbox" automated DVD Kiosk as a part of its campus vending program. This "Redbox" vendor is the first credit-card-payment-only vending machine offered in the vending program.
The "Redbox" DVD Movie Rental Kiosk offers:
* Automated self service
* $1 per night rental (plus tax)
* 35-40 different titles
* New releases added each week
